Yankees Catcher Jorge Posada to announce retirement from baseball

Hip, Hip, Jorge!

It?s been 17 amazing seasons years for the Yankees catcher, Jorge Posada but it appears that there will be no more. Posada, who ranks in the top 10 in Yankees history in four major categories including, extra-base hits and doubles, is retiring, with the announcement expected later this week.

Posada has been a major part of the Yankees nucleus which captured 6 World Series titles during his reign. Jorge is part of what Yankee fans refer to as the ?Core Four? consisting of all-time saves leader, Mariano Rivera, pitcher, Andy Petitte and of course, shortstop, Derek Jeter. Andy was the first to say goodbye to the game of baseball and now it appears Rivera and Jeter will be the only members of this elite club, suiting up for the 2012 season.

If this is true, then I?m glad that Jorge is going out a Yankee. It?s nice to see him end his career in Pinstripes.
