help! how to choose between majors.. physics or elementary teacher ...

Question by : help! how to choose between majors.. physics or elementary teacher?
I?m ending my junior year and just cannot choose between finishing my current physics pursuit or going into the teaching program. I enjoy physics but I?m not too good at it ? I?ve never gotten above a C+ in any of my 3 general physics but I heard it gets easier once you get to the higher, more specific classes, since they?re more focused. Many adults have told me that I have a unique mind and my ability to see things from another perspective will lead me well in science. However, I have been told I?m a natural at teaching ? I took a teaching practicum and the kids like me. It?s kind of fun making lessons plans. I took a couple of teaching classes as well and the issues are interesting.

However? I just cannot choose! My parents think that I?m only going after ?this teaching thing? because my boyfriend was the one who first brought on the idea, since he saw that I was unsure about physics and knows how good I am with kids. So there?s mega pressure from my parents to not ?give up? and ?just? become a teacher (obviously, they don?t know how much work it is)? yes, it?s my life but I still live with my parents so I don?t want to pick physics just to not fight with them but I don?t want to go with teaching because I?m blinded by my boyfriend? he?s the one who suggested it, and it could be perfect for me, but how do I know I?m not being too influenced by him and being blinded by it?

How do I know which one is the right decision FOR ME? Without these influences? If I didn?t have a boyfriend and if I moved out of my parents ? THAT me, how do I know what she is better off with?

I?d appreciate any advice on how to go ? so far, meditation has been the only advice I?ve received. I?ve taken the exploratory classes ? the three required teaching courses before I can apply to the teaching program. They still haven?t given me any ?Aha! That?s it!? moments.

Please, any advice.
That?s what I have been doing ? my last physics class was last semester and this semester, I took 2 education classes and a practicum. The reason I?m hesitant to take both physics and education courses is because I?m already 3 years into college and I?ll still need a total of 5 just to finish physics by itself (because I started off as an engineering major and switched my first year). If I throw in classes that aren?t required to finish the physics degree, it will take longer (the 2 education classes I took count as elective requirements but I have no more to fulfill). The physics degree will take about 1.5 more years, the teaching program 3 years.. together, I wouldn?t get out of college until my late 20s. I know college is important and I shouldn?t rush but I would like to move out of my parents and get my own place once I get a degree and get some kind of real job so I can afford moving out. Living here for 2, 3 more years is longer than I?d be happy with.

For the time being, why not take physics classes and add an education class or two along the way. You should make this decision yourself, and not choose something to please someone else. Good luck.
