You can now legally play video gambling machines in Belvidere.? Aldermen vote to make it official.
Belvidere's Rio Room lounge has hardly had its doors open for a month.? But soon the Rio Room will add five brand new video gaming systems.? Owners hope to increase the odds of drawing more customers.
"It's about time that we get these in, I think a lot of people are going to enjoy it," said Maria Martinez, owner of Rio Room.
Maria Martinez wastes no time at all.? She's signing a contract soon with A.S.A.P. Gaming.? The lounge she owns, Rio Room will soon be fitted with five new gaming terminals.
Night life is struggling in Belvidere much like other areas of the country.? Martinez hopes video gaming can change that.
"Something for people to come in and just get a drink and sit down and have some fun in a bar."
The games are described as low volatility.? That's how vendors sell the terminals.
"They're meant to be entertaining.? We've seen because we have about 13 sites basically in and around the N. Illinois to Central Illinois area," said a terminal operator.
Aldermen also had a lot of discussion on how much they'll charge for game registrations.? That'll be $100 split down the middle between the establishment and the game terminal operator.
