?I?ve been given hope, confidence and visualization through this course.?

Like a breath of fresh air, the WIB program is designed to help women take a fresh glance at their lifelong journey, and begin to take charge of an exciting new future while in a safe and caring environment. With a trained facilitator as their guide, and with the support of other women exploring their own vision of the future, WIB participants are challenged to learn, discover and dream.

?I have become more excited for the future and have gained more confidence.?

For some women that vision could include starting a business, while others find themselves looking at their career choices with new eyes. Others decide to go back to school, while some just decide to embrace their lives and themselves with a new depth of understanding, knowledge and meaning. Unique to YWCA Muskoka, the WIB program fully integrates life skills and business/employment skills development, while allowing for improved self-discovery, self-improvement and self-confidence.

?My friends say that I am now speaking my mind more confidently ?
and that I have made progress in being more assertive.?

While about 40 per cent of the WIB graduates do decide to start a business, others attend the program to increase their skill levels and build new personal and professional networks, ultimately leading to greater economic independence. Participants are invited to create a Life Plan or a Business Plan ? or both!

?This course is full of so much information ? for both life and business skills!?

Participants in the Women in Business program attend two sessions a week beginning just after Thanksgiving and wrapping up with a graduation celebration in March.

?Women from all walks of life participate in the program,? said WIB program coordinator Liz Angell. ?It is truly wonderful to see women come together in such a supportive environment to really explore direction for their lives and to grow in self-confidence. We all learn from each other ? it?s awesome.?

This year, the program is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day in Bracebridge and Monday and Wednesday evenings in Huntsville.

Support for transportation and child care are available.

The registration fee for the six-month program is $35, which includes a YWCA Membership and a Canadian business skills textbook.

?This course was just amazing for self-discovery and for providing tools either
?forgotten or necessary to being ?successful? in life. This course is truly life-altering!?
