Have you ever tried to coordinate a play to score while pulling around an equestrian? That's exactly what donkey basketball (www.donkeysports.com) offers: the chance to maneuver a donkey across a basketball court in order to score your bucket. Utah State University and associated high schools will all be a part of an event that will give approximately half of its proceeds to the Cache County Community Food Pantry (www.cachefoodpantry.com), which serves the Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties. Watch for drawings at the associated schools for an opportunity to play in the game! Four first rounds, two semifinals and a title game will take place. High school faculty, adults and students will all play. A large screen projecting the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship and concessions will also be available. Brought to you by ASUSU Presidents Cabinet, ASUSU College of Agriculture, Donkey Sports Inc. and the Cache Community Food Pantry. $5 for persons 18 and older; $4 for USU and high school students with ID; $3 for children under 12 years. Lt. Gov Chief of Staff Cody Stewart speaking to students on careers in govt. Cody Stewart, Lt. Governor Bell?s Chief of Staff, will be speaking to students about how to find and land a career in government and politics. Stewart oversees the daily operations of the lieutenant governor's office and advises Bell on policy issues. He also serves as Bell's spokesman. Stewart, a Utah native, has worked in Washington, D.C., for the past decade, including as legislative director for Rep. David F. Lancy, Professor of Anthropology and 2011 D. Wynne Thorne Career Research Award winner, delivers a talk "Nature vs Nurture Revisited." Lancy will discuss his work on the anthropology of childhood and how it is changing our understanding of what is and isn?t ?natural? in children?s life histories. Lancy and colleagues are finding new ways to tease apart the effects of nurture and nature and demonstrating how we have often turned nurture into nature by failing to acknowledge the ethnocentric quality of many of our common or even ?scientific? assumptions about child development. Lancy will argue that contemporary western society is a poor model for building an understanding of universal or natural aspects of childhood because our views on children and our child-rearing practices are so ?weird.? The second part introduces and provides practice for value clarification and basic behavior change to help students cope. We will hold a re-dedication ceremony as this event. The is a service project for a Business Management class, and we are working with the Alumni office, Veteran's resource office and ROTC.
