CHICAGO (AP) ? An endangered gorilla baby was born at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Zoo officials said Monday that the baby girl was born Thursday and will be introduced to the public on Tuesday. She is the first Western lowland gorilla born at the zoo since 2005. The baby gorilla doesn't have a name yet. Her mother is 15-year-old Bana, who gave birth for the first time. Her father is Kwan, a 22-year-old silverback gorilla.

The zoo said in release that the father has "stayed protectively close to mother and baby."

The baby is the 49th gorilla born at Lincoln Park Zoo.
